JUDGEMENT DAY

One morning I arose to a wailin’ sound

Mama was sobbin’ in bed

‘Cause Daddy’s chest had ceased to rise

And that’s where her tears came to rest

Next thing I'm walking up a lonesome road

Followin’ a long black train

And then it dawned on me:

I’d never hear his voice again until JUDGEMENT DAY

CHORUS
JUDGEMENT DAY may come ‘round the bend

Or just behind the blink of an eye

When St. Peter call your name

You know you done run out of time

My daddy wasn’t no kind of rich man

Lady Luck never smiled on our door

But he had more friends than a forest got trees

And that’s how he liked to keep score

Everybody don’t get a fair shot in life

Or a road sign pointin’ the way

But sure as you’re born, no matter who you are

You’re gonna come to JUDGEMENT DAY

CHORUS

Everybody don’t get a fair shake in life

Or a spotlight on a Hollywood stage

But sure as you’re born, no matter who you are

You’re gonna come to JUDGEMENT DAY

CHORUS
